A Small Conversation, Between Stories
Hi my lovelies!! Hope you all are well and gearing for the winter. ❄️
Yesterday something special happened. The Indian Women Cricket team won the World Cup.
This was monumental for our girls. Not only because of the sport, but more for the monumental slap to the patriarchal authorities who considered women's sport to be just a hobby, not to be taken seriously. I had tears in my eyes, watching millions of Indians cheering for these girls, who only decades ago had to wear borrowed uniforms or fight household norms to pursue dreams. It might just be a start to something special for all South Asian girls, whose dreams were sacrificed under the guise of so called traditional feminity.
And then I wondered, there are so many voices, so many dreams still unheard, or silenced...waiting for their right moment. Some are doing okay, some are doing great, and their voices need to be heard too.
Wattpad gave me a voice years ago.
Wattpad, for me, has always been more than a platform. It’s a space of crossing paths — of finding fragments of ourselves in each other’s writing, of knowing that somewhere, someone understands.
Just like you all. My friends. My lovelies.
So, tell me — where are you from? What are your dreams made of? And what has Wattpad been for you — a refuge, a spark, a beginning?
I’d love to know the hearts behind the usernames — the quiet hopes, the places you return to, the reasons you stay. Maybe, in knowing each other a little, our stories will find new meaning.
-Love,
SB
