Part 2! (It got too long)
7. Trial and error. The first book you write will probably be a train wreck. That's completely normal. My first book I ended up deleting off here because it got 20 views in 6 months and 0 votes. Not exactly a confidence booster. But I tried again and look where it got me! A somewhat popular trilogy and over 100 fans!
8. Use your dreams and your life experiences as inspiration and ideas! That's where I get all my ideas :)
9. Stay awesome! Keep reading and learn from your favorite books.
10. Don't worry if your idea is similar to someone else's. There is almost no way to have an idea that is nothing like any other book. Too many books have been written. Just make sure to make it your own and add your own twists to it.
I hope this helps! Sorry for taking so long
Hey! I am soooo sorry for not replying sooner! I was going to reply but then I forgot about it. Better late then never right? Here's what I learned in the past 2 years about writing stories:
1. Don't write/plan out too much in your head before writing it down. Plan the major scenes in the story and then the filler chapters only plan a chapter or two ahead. If you plan too far you may get bored while writing it up because you already know what's going to happen.
2. Enjoy it. If you are getting too bored writing then the readers will get bored reading. What I usually do to help with this is not plan too far ahead so that when I'm writing I'm surprised as well and I want to know the ending so I really want to keep writing.
3. Plan ahead. (Yes it breaks rule 1. I'll explain why) you need to plan major scenes so that you don't get 5 chapters in and have no clue what to do next and get major writers block. So plan ahead but don't plan too much. Keep a good balance.
4. DETAILS! This is the rule I never followed and I regret not following it. Adding lots of details(but don't over do it) makes the chapters longer and helps the reader connect with the characters.
5. Don't rush it. As you can tell I rushed the last chapter of my third book because I was sick of writing it and therefore it ended up being a lot worse than it was in my head.
6. Ask for pointers! You've already completed this one but keep asking for help. (Especially from people who have completed a series or book and are popular on watt pad. And by popular I mean not my somewhat popularity. The more famous the more it means they know how to write a book usually. But they are also more busy and less likely to respond.)
