/ hi backstory time: austin and his fiancé, evelyn, were arranged to be married by their parents back in 1880 when they were both 16 (well, okay, he looked 16 but he was more like 300, anyway). neither of them wanted to do it but evelyn realized it would be the perfect opportunity to get her away from her abusive mother, so she begged austin to go through with it, and he agreed to help her. they eventually ended up falling in love with each other, but evelyn ended up catching the plague during the third pandemic in england. in order to save her, he turned her bc he is a selfish man who can’t live without his best girl :)))
