Porter Messinger was born on July 28th as a female; however, they don't necessarily identify that way. Porter identifies as gender-fluid, a gender best described as an in between. Porter prefers they/them pronouns rather than the traditional she/her or he/him pronouns. This is due to not necessarily feeling female, nor male. Most days they feel agender, or no specific gender, but it can also lean towards the masculine side. It is a difficult concept to explain and for many to understand, but the best they can hope for is acceptance from family, peers, and instructors. Porter is a lover of animals and owns a dog named Sheldon, a dog typically loved by everyone. Their parents foster children and they have met many great, diverse kids because of this. Each child has their own interesting story to share. Porter believes that you can get a lot out if being a stable, happy home-environment for a child in need and wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Porter themselves would like to foster children of their own someday.

Porter Messinger is a very strong believer in equal rights and is interested in reading equal writes (and fantasy). Messinger proudly identifies as a feminist (so basically believes in equal rights for everyone. Yes, everyone. That includes all races, genders, etc. Porter loves thought provoking novels. Another big inspiration to them is a band called Twenty One Pilots. Porter has been listening to them since early 2013 and their work has affected them every day since Messinger first heard them. They got to see their idols live on September 19th, 2014. Their favorite piece of work of their own is a poem called I will go with you, written for their freshman English class. In this poem they took phrases from a book (Mythology by Edith Hamilton) and put them together where they fit, resulting in a beautiful poem.
