—  IN  A  MOURNING  WARNING,   NO  ONE  HEARD.   yet  carrie  did  try.   she  cares  about  the  spirits  like  they're  friends,   and  in  an  au  where  the  boys  do  survive,   she  had  visions  of  what  was  happening.   even  so ,,  no  one  listened  to  her.   to  them,   she  was  crazy —   and  that  was  all.

(     don't     cry,     robin.     you     haven't     even     said     anything     yet.     )          to     tell     you     about     my     dad..     how..     yeah.     about     my     dad.          (     he's      mentioned     his     father     briefly     before,     never     expanding     further     on     the     subject     than     giving     the     fact      that     he'd     passed     while      stationed     in     vietnam.     )

            of  course.   {  carrie  is  answering  before  she  even  processes  the  rest  of  robin's  words,   closing  her  novel  around  her  thumb  to  mark  her  place.    when  she  looks  to  him,   she's  laced  with  a  concern  that  cannot  be  faked.  }    what  is  it ?   
            
            *    they  really  are  so  important  to  me   :")    this  was  a  SICK  comeback ,,  but  i  love  how  sweet  they  are  ☹️

            i'm  alright.   {  the  answer  comes  with  a  humbling  swipe  to  her  eyes  like  the  tears  will  wait  until  later  if  she  attempts  to  ask,   shaking  her  head  to  reorient  herself.   lord,   she  wishes  no  one  knew  her  name.  }   thank  you.    just  some  silly  school  things,   really.

            it  isn't.   {  even  so,   she  lets  it  persist.    it's  difficult  to  place  a  'why'  upon  it  all,   how  she's  become  so  complacent  to  being  hurt  because  it's  an  old  routine.   perhaps  because  she  can't  say  any  of  the  insults  are  wrong.  }    but  they  have  said  these  things  since  kindergarten.    it  would  be  easier  to  convince  them  the  science  teacher  is  a  werewolf  :/

            i  do  not  have  the  energy  to  deal  with  it.   {  lame  as  the  excuse  is,   carrie  can't  pretend  it  isn't  the  bare  bones  of  the  truth.   she  *doesn't*  have  any  energy  to  spare.   at  this  point  in  her  life,   mockery  is  more  of  an  expectancy  than  a  devastating  blow.  }    they  have  always  treated  me  like  this,   ro.   it  could  be  worse -  no  one  has  raised  a  hand  to  me.    yet.    ( .. )    i  wouldn't  let  them  get  away  with  that.

            {  what's  the  bigger  mercy  between  a  lie  and  a  knife  through  the  heart?   the  question  itself  is  one  carrie  is  reluctant  to  truly  ask  herself,  the  memory  of  vance  in  his  final  form  far  too  haunting  to  forget  whilst  being  far  too  horrific  to  remember.   what  would  she  want  someone  else  to  do?  }     ( .. )   i  have.    {  she  finally  settles  upon,   not  looking  up  to  gauge  gina's  reaction.  }    he..  he  misses  you  and  ginny.
