            {  angry.   that  has  always  been  dahlia's  title,   her  red  flag  glaring  in  the  face  of  anyone  who  meets  her.   angry.   she's  angry,   a  feisty  little  thing,   vicious  and  mean  and  unable  to  love  without  claws  tearing  the  warm  flesh  of  what  she  loves  dearest.    a  fire  to  melt  brittle  hearts  and  create  rampages  of  her  own,   a  new,   worse  state  than  before.    her  rage,   keeping  her  warm,   was  always  intended  to  burn  anyone  who  dared  touch  her  sister.
            and  she  failed.
            her  fire  fell  short.   her  anger  swung  and  was  caught  in  that  same  cage  from  youth,    capturing  her  in  the  hearth  from  hell.    capturing  el  in  the  hearth  from  hell.   she  failed  her  baby  sister,   not  so  much  a  baby  anymore,   and  that  will  forever  be  her  fault.   }     i  was  intended  to  protect  you.    ( .. )     i  was  supposed  to  protect  you.    had  i  not  let  owens  take  us,   take  you,   anywhere,   you  would  not  be  in  this  position.    if  i  had  obliterated  him  where  he  stood,    you  would  have  been  fine.

            that  does  not  matter.    i  have  thick  hair  y  a  tough  scalp,    you  do  not  have  to  worry  about  tugging.   as  for  looks,   i  do  not  care.    it  is  all  part  of  learning.     {  there's  a  kindness  layered  to  her  voice  that  only  el  is  a  recipient  of,   melted  down  to  her  warmest  sisterly  tone  that  hopefully  keeps  that  look  in  her  sister's  eye.    yes,   dahlia  could  care  less  about  how  her  hair  looks,    down  to  waist  length  or  messily  braided.    if  it  is  what  jane  wants,   it  is  what  she  will  get.  }     you  can  undo  these  braids,   if  you  would  like.    get  a  feel  of  what  you  are  working  with.

            {   how  familiar  this  tale  is.    what  dahlia  lives  is  a  neverending  story  of  arsenal,   weaponry,    work  until  you  drop  because  that  is  what  makes  you   ( worthy ).      it  makes  you  strong,   working  until  you  are  broken.     like  a  geode  waiting  to  show  the  world  it's  worth,   you  must  break.    dahlia  has broken  many,   many  times  before,    each  alone,   each  in  silence,   each  without  allowance  to  continue  into  the  remainder  of  her  day.     do  not  hope,   do  not  cry,   do  not  let  anyone  know  you  are  more  than  the  surface  of  strength.    she  has  hardened  into  impenetrable  armor,    but  her  sister ?     her  baby  sister,   her  darling  girasol ?     dahlia  can  break,   crumble,   and  die  for  all  she  cares.    ellie  cannot.  }     you  are  not.     you  will  hurt  yourself  doing  this,    girasol.
