To whom it may concern,
I have had a personal connection to Relay for Life for many years now. What started out as a bit of fun turned into a very important aspect of my life. After my neighbor Roni passed of kidney cancer, I became extremely dedicated to the team that she created. Many people in my life have been touched by cancer in many different ways, but most recently my uncle Gary was diagnosed with brain cancer. Even in these most difficult times, I find pulling together to fight against the common enemy is the most inspiring thing to do.
Relay for life is a team fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. ACS not only gives money to research, it spends a substantial amount on making sure cancer patients are well cared for. One of the things they have is called the Hope Lodge, a place for cancer patients to stay close to the hospital while they are in the process of chemo and radiation. My uncle himself stayed at the Hope Lodge and everyone was just very kind and it was an amazing place to visit.
In end donating to Relay for Life will not only take us one step closer to eliminating the disease that devastates our earth but provide comfort and financial relief for those faced with it.
Thank you,
McKenna
