They shall not grow old,

As we that are left grow old,

          	Age shall not weary them,

          	Nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun,

          	And in the morning,

          	We will remember them.

In case you are not aware of one of the many crises that the UK is currently facing, new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has declared that he is trying to change the 2010 Equality Act. The Act was passed in Parliament 12 years ago, and the point of it is to legally protect people from discrimination, harassment, and victimisation in the workplace and the wider society. It replaced many anti-discrimination laws with a single Act, which made the laws easier to understand, and also strengthened protection in some situations. The Act came about on 1st October 2010, and plays a vital role in the world we live in today. It protects everyone in the UK, but focuses a lot on:
          - Age
          - Disabilities
          - Gender reassignment
          - Marriage or civil partnership
          - Pregnancy and maternity
          - Race
          - Religion and/or beliefs
          - Sex
          - Sexual orientation

Sunak is the third Prime Minister we have had in two months, and he promised that, when elected as PM, he would lead with compassion, and make the UK a safe place for the LGBTQ+ community. However, newer statements clearly go against what he has previously said, which has caused an uproar around the UK from the LGBTQ+ community and allies.

As a trans male, I am disgusted with the people leading the UK, and I am desperately hoping that he does not go through with this. Instead of him addressing issues like the rising economic crisis we are facing, he instead decides to try to change the 2010 Equality Act with his own transphobia, in hopes of no longer allowing the transgender community any legal protection. I am disgusted with him, with his political party, and I hope that all of the transgender community are doing okay currently. We have it bad enough as it is, this is the last thing we need.

We are not stuck in the early 20th century. This is the end of 2022. We should have learnt. We should be better than what we are.

Transgender rights are human rights. The trans community needs to be protected.

The world is becoming more and more fucked up. Roe v Wade just got overturned; abortion is illegal. And here in the UK, we are having our basic human rights taken away. And then there's so many wars happening right now. So many countries are suffering. Climate Change is also destroying us. How long will it take for us to realise that we're killing ourselves?

We've gone and destroyed ourselves. We're killing ourselves. How long will it take for us to realise that?

And then there's poverty and homelessness. The cost of living has shot up and people aren't able to cope. People aren't able to live. And employment rates are so low it's scary. Starvation is there. We've fucking ruined ourselves, and I highly doubt we'll be stopping here and trying to set things right.
