You don't need to compete with anyone to know your worth. With experience I can say that you're just in that phase of not accepting your worth just for a girl. And no you're not less than anyone. You have great great potential by the way you expressed. And about family, they are first for you. And you're main to yourself. Start to be happy from within and move on. Not with anyone if you want but with yourself. I'm sure that girl must've also wanted to see you happy and prosperous in life with yourself and your family.
