New year of school and I had to write a narrative for my history class. Here's a little snippet, if enough people want I can try to get the whole thing and publish it as it's own thing. Keep in mind the format is fucked because it's copied and pasted from Word to GMail to Discord and then here because my districts locks most communication down:
James' head was going to be the death of him. First the stranger helping him dares to question his authority, and right before he enacts the Lord's punishment, filthy colonists invade his home! Stirring from his forced slumber, James awoke to himself strung to a tree in the dead of night, the only light available from a fire lit in front of him, the sound of boiling water nearby. Despite his situation, he was at least grateful his abductors were making him some food. Besides, he was protected by the great King of England, who would dare harm him, let alone capture him!?
"Ah, so our Royal Governor is awake. Care for a drink?"
The gravelly voice sounded to James' left, shocking him for a moment.
"Why of course, it's quite surprising my capturers are more polite than my associate."
James was expecting a hand to be tied free so he could freely drink, but instead his mouth was forced open by another person hidden in the shadows while the one he spoke to forced the drink down his mouth. The drink didn't taste like anything, which didn't matter since soon after James couldn't taste. His tongue and mouth burned as the boiling water was shoved down his throat, and when they stopped forcing the drink down, he spat it into the ground, his entire mouth in so much pain he had difficulty speaking correctly.
"What the devil did you give me, you bloody imps!? I took you for imprudent colonists, not savages in disguise!"
James stopped talking as a hand grasped his neck, choking him slightly as he gazed with fear in his eyes at the man who dared to grab him such way.
