@redheadreading you could write an alternative ending...many people like sad endings and many people like happy endings. You would have something that all your readers would like! But this is just my opinion. :)

By the way, with you're "a lot" problem, I just try to be very conscience of what I am writing and if I feel like I'm writing some word or phrase a lot (such as a lot XD) just try to reword the sentence or use a thesaurus. Basically, just don't allow yourself to use the word a lot. Forbid it of yourself XD it actually works for me.
