It was New Year's Eve in Japan, and it was snowing. As tradition goes you were going to the local shrine for the occasion. Your other friends were going to meet up with you there, but you wanted time to enjoy the place on your own. So you left your house and arrived about three quarters of an hour before the arranged meeting time. 
Casually, you strolled about the grounds already beginning to crowd with other people coming to celebrate. Several were helping gather large logs of dark wood into a sort of tepee shape for the bonfire. You adjusted the scarf around your neck as you passed them and came closer to the actual shrine building. There were parents with children, groups of highschoolers, and lovers holding hands gathering around the amazake stand out front, so you decided to detour around the back of the building. It wasn't wrong, right?
You'd gotten quite far from the entrance to the shrine now. It was dark where you currently were. The sounds weren't as loud. Before you could settle on whether you'd turn back or not for fear of getting caught, you noticed a human figure standing in the midst of an untouched field of snow. The moon was not out, and the person was shrouded in darkness. 
"Ano... sumimasen!" ("Um... excuse me!")
Immediately, the person turned around. It was a teenage girl with short brown hair and dark (brown?) eyes. You saw she wore a white long-sleeved kimono with a fancily tied orange and yellow obi. Wasn't it cold?
"How can you see me?" she asked, startled.
"I have eyes."
"This not a laughing matter."
"No one's laughing."
Then the girl walked up to you and said, "You need to come with me."
"What? No, I don't. I don't know you,"you replied, surprised and defiant. Now that she was closer, you noticed how pale her complexion was and the seriousness in her eyes. It was unsettling, the look she gave you.
"My name is *Nakagawa Mei, and I believe your life is in grave danger."
