Hello, for those of you that from outside Indonesia.
I just want to say one thing: Indonesia is not doing well. Demonstrations are happening everywhere, and have even claimed lives. Even the government is attempting to silence us. And we need help.
If you want to know why, this is what Indonesia is currently facing:
- 66 national TV stations ave been taken off the air.
- TikTok live has been blocked.
- Meta platforms (Instagram live) has been shut down.
- Public CCTV cameras have been disabled.
- Street lights have been turned off in certain areas.
- There are reports of police opening fire on residents in Kwitang, Jakarta.
- Civilian ride-hailing driver mas killed by armored vehicle.
- Children poisoned by contaminated food in the government's Free Nutritious Food (or MBG) program. Lab tests show serious safety failures.
- Fuel scarcity despite promises of "quota relief". Private gas stations like Shell and BP are running dry. The government is pushing to rely on state-owned fuel.
- Doctors and paramedics under threats. They are facing unpaid incentives and government law changes that violate human rights. Medics treating the injured were also attacked with tear gas during protests.
- Journalist detained and assaulted around Parliament. They are being harassed from reporting the news.
- Rice shortage and prices are rising due to high demand. Many families cannot afford basic food.
- Tax burdens. Government adding big taxes on daily necessities.
- Government approved a $3,000/mont housing allowance for THEMSELVES, while the majority of Indonesians are struggling in poverty.
- Tone-deaf government members mocked citizens as stupid, and sang and danced during this situation.
- The list goes on...
