@WasatchWriter Oh the mythology definitely will. I have it all written out. Basically, Toret the god of land and Aliya the god of the sea have a competition in who can make their creations cooler. :)

As for its story purpose, it'll serve to show the divergent perspectives of the humans and the merfolk, as religion can demonstrate this very well.

@WasatchWriter I must say that I love the fact that Irian’s character development is so much slower than most main characters. Sometimes, when I read that a character goes through some drastic physical changes or suddenly has to confront a major wrong, said character will immediately adapt or change their perspective. The use of patience instead gives Irian’s development, and the overall book, a greater sense of realism and effectiveness.
I can’t think of anything that needs improvement, though I am interested in the mythology occasionally mentioned dealing with Aliya and Toret. Is there any chance they’ll have a greater impact later on?

You are most kind. I have to say I do like writing original stories that keeps the reader enthralled. Not knowing what to expect, as each chapter allows their imagination to open up doors to a different way of looking at the mundane.
Also please take into consideration that I was limited in the amount of words by the rules of the contest. As this story had to be cut back considerably. ( A hair tearing experience)

@SanctuaryCrystal Of course! It is quite unlike anything I have ever seen, combining science fiction, fantasy, mystery, and action!
