Rocco DeLorenzo's academic tenure at Cornell University, marked by a profound blend of scientific inquiry and strategic business acumen, culminated in degrees from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. His dual major in food science, focusing on business, and applied economics and management, concentrating on strategy and food industry management, uniquely positioned him to impact the food sector significantly.
Throughout his university experience, Rocco was deeply engaged with Chi Psi Fraternity, where he quickly stepped into roles that would shape his leadership trajectory. As Risk Manager and Academic Chair, he instituted critical safety and educational initiatives that not only improved the fraternity's operations but also enhanced the well-being of its members.
In a broader capacity, Rocco served as VP of Membership and Alumni Development on the Cornell Interfraternity Council (IFC) Executive Board. His tenure in this role was characterized by transformative projects, notably the introduction of a comprehensive Hazing Prevention Training program, which he developed and implemented across the fraternity chapters, setting a new standard for fraternity engagement and safety on campus.
Rocco's proactive approach to leadership was further demonstrated when he addressed a critical health crisis by orchestrating Narcan Training across the IFC after a drug overdose incident. This initiative not only safeguarded fraternity members but also propelled broader university policy changes concerning health and safety training.
Faced with severe misconduct allegations within the fraternity community, Rocco spearheaded an emergency strategy that halted all fraternity social activities and led the creation of a Sexual Violence Prevention plan. This plan not only addressed the immediate issues but also aimed to catalyze a shift towards a safer, more respectful fraternity culture.
