@itsfeliciarouse Hi Felicia! I tried replying earlier but the message seemed to get swallowed up when Wattpad brought up a login challenge when I tried posting it. So what I was saying is, to me, where your potential lies is to write from within your own "self" - you become and live, in your imagination, the characters you create, that way the characters that you are showing us your readers are uniquely yours - in a way they become part of you and have drawn from your experience, feelings and research.

OK, ideas - look around, read the newspapers, you just need a "trigger" and then build a story from that - imagine what it would be like to travel to Mars, the space-trip living with the same team forever, the emotional and practical problems.

Imagine being in a team that discovers fossils, diving shipwrecks, being a group of kids who discover a hidden valley. A college student who uncovers a mystery at university, or an affair between the most hated lecturer and the Dean.

I personally love, particularly in short stories, where there is a twist in the last paragraph and it puts all you have read before in a new light. The South African writer Charles Herman Bosman is well know for this style - he wrote about mainly the people that were around him, the schoolmaster, the postmaster, the farmer, grocery but always there was a twist at the end of the story.

Another ideas is to write an "embellished" journal - things that happen in your life, only more so! Interesting to the reader because there is some fact among the fiction and as the reader you are never sure.

Hope this may help getting your ideas flowing!!!

            Best wishes - Rod
