I'm an old man who's been trying to write well for 50 years. In that time I've learned mostly what doesn't work well. But sometimes, sometimes I get real close to quality. My goal now is to bring a worthwhile experience to some readers. That would be fine.

By the way, many years ago, when I thought I could write a novel, I submitted a draft and some proposed chapters to a literary agent. In his rejection letter, he said my big problem is that I don't create sympathetic characters. After I vented, I recalled some famous literary characters. None were sympathetic. Some, like Starbuck in "Moby Dick" or the narrator in "Bartleby, the Scrivener" were reprehensible, although I suppose some people would consider them nice guys, worthy of our sympathy. I don't think fiction that creates a felt experience can pivot on sympathetic characters. So I give fair warning.

I also do a lot of blogging. Visit my blog at rcsnmi.blogspot.com, and please comment

I also write poetry very occasionally and have written songs. Transitioning from writing poems to writing song lyrics is very difficult...not to say maddening.
