How is it acceptable for a black actress to play a white historical figure but it's not acceptable for a white person to play a black historical figure? (Not saying it should be acceptable) I don't get it. Its really a double standard. I don't care if you want a black actress to play a typically white fairytale character, that's fine because the person isn't real and can be portrayed any way you want, but a real life historical figure? Its not right.

@AnimeDweeb2020 yes, it is, but they have a point. There are many articles about white Americans getting more jobs + benefits than black Americans. Saying you can’t be successful can set you up for failure, but they weren’t wrong when they said it was harder for black Americans than white Americans. There is racial inequality in the labor market. The “get another job” thing is very insensitive, I will admit that.

@apairofmaracas39 It was on a trublee video and this person I think had like 5 jobs and they said "then you aren't trying hard enough to make money get another job" or "I can't make money because I'm black and they won't hire me because I'm black so you get all the jobs" and shit like that. Imo saying you can't be successful is setting yourself up for failure

@AnimeDweeb2020 yes, ignorant to a degree. The person in question is referring to the fact that a majority of white people have generational wealth and about 400 more years of freedom than black people. A lot of black people (not all, but a good amount) are very far behind in terms of wealth. Therefore, the person who said that must’ve thought that they didn’t deserve 1000 dollars because they were already ahead. The person who said that executed their point very badly, but it has a bit of sensible reasoning. Just my take.
