“  well  how  was  i  supposed  to  know  that’d  happen  ??  ”  ,  his  voice  claims  in  irritation ,  refusing  to  look  over  the  putrid  carcass .

" you pointed it at him and he just died from the sound? I found it hard to believe. smells like smoke as well. " the druid would not really be offensive, more just over come with the curiosity of seeing such a device.

            “  HA  ?!  DID  NOT  !!  ”  the  boy  countered  loudly ,  almost  offended  by  his  absolutely  right  assumption .  “  I’D  NEVER  ”

[ a shake of her head at his theatrics but managing to keep a small grin. she’d missed this lighthearted back and forth with him and it felt good beginning to experience some sort of normality again. ]   “ well,  don’t get used to it ” 
            
            [ her eyes widen in surprise when she’s suddenly being dragged by him,  willing her feet not to trip over themselves and run at the same pace as him. ]  “ jack?!  what’re you doing! ”   [ though she lacked much physical activity in the last few weeks,  she still managed to keep up with him.  his laugh makes her face light up ]

            “  yes  way  i  just  did  ”  ,  he  sang  proudly ,  kissing  the  tip  of  his  finger  as  if  it  were  a  holy  object .  
            
            jack  remained  silent  for  a  bit  ,  grunting  to  himself  .  suddenly  he  messed  his  hair  while  groaning  and  glaring  at  her .  “  you -  ” ,  he  began  before  calming  down  and  flashing  a  smile .  “  dun’  wanna ”  he  chuckled .
            
            his  left  hand  went  to  hold  hers  without  any  explanation  and  he  began  running  away  rapidly  ,  his  legs  speeding  through  the  landscape  as  he  laughed .  

[ perhaps this was a step in the right direction.  heading to some sort of normality,  though she knew she would never truly let it go.  but for now,  she gasped at the flick to her forehead and managed to let out a surprised chuckle ]  “ no way you just flicked me ”
            
            [ she could tell he was avoiding answering her question properly.  how many years they’d known each other,  it was only natural for her to learn to identify when he was hiding what he truly felt ]   “ you can talk to me,  when you’re ready ”   
            
            [ her eyebrow raised but she did as she was told,  slowly standing to her feet. briefly she glanced out the window before returning her gaze to him. ]   “ where are we going? it’s gonna start getting dark soon. ”

            the  boy  raised  his  head  ,  craning  it  to  the  side  while  sneering  up  at  the  irritating  voice  he  had  come  to  recognize  .  “  mind  your  business  . ”  ,  his  tongue  hissed .
            
            in  no  way  would  he  openly  deliver  his  worries  to  a  girl  he  knew  so  little  about  ,  especially  as  it  was  a  matter  of  heart .  oh  no ,  he’d  rather  join  the  marines .

&&   he canonically deadass climbed all the way from hell like a roach (sigh)

            “  for  hell’s  sake  old  lady  !  your  self - consciousness  isn’t  going  to  get  us  anywhere  near  him  ”  (  he  counters  with a frown  )  “  at  this point pace  he’d  make  it  all  the  way  to  the  whole  cake  island  so  hush  and  track  him .  people  like  him  on  the  hurry    have  the  tendency  to  be  overconfident  and  leave  crucial  traces  in  his  flee  .  ”

and what if he has devil fruit powers? or a weapon we don’t know about?    [asking with arms crossed over her chest, shaking her head lightly]    if we’re not careful, we’ll be the ones taking fire.

            “  shut  .  ”  (  the  boy  cuts  as  he  readies  himself ,  eyes  raking  her  every  move  while  he  fixes  his  stance )  “  ya  speak  a  lot  for  a  bdsm  fighter  ”  (  his  words  lingers  with  a  snicker  )

[she’d seen this coming, standing up straight simultaneously as him. hand wrapped around hilt of her whip, she let it crack once against the dry ground beneath them]    alright, a rematch it is. let’s see if you put /anything/ i’ve told you to practice.

            “  nah  ,  you  just  got  me  surprised  is  all .  don’t   flatter  yourself  . ”  (  he  snarks , pushing  her  hand  away  as  he  gets  back  up  and  yields  his  sword  )  “  i  demand  a  rematch  !  ”

            “  blah  blah  blah ,  quit  your  yapping  woman  and  give  me  the  damn  bottle  !  ”  (  he  roguishly  grumbles  ,  somewhat  irked  by  her  childish  provocation )  “  he  won’t  trust  that  fake  beggar  buttony  face  of  yours  either  ‘nyways  !!  ”

i’ll make sure to tell him just that when he interrogates me over his missing bottle.   [she says, followed by sticking her tongue out at the other as they walked side by side]    i bet he’ll even believe me if i say i wasn’t involved in the crime.
