Wings

I’m your Angel. I work, sweat, cry but don’t ask for much. I hold everything together like the glue to a bird house. My wings fly but are restrained by the chains of power you hold over me. I pull and tear at the chains with screams of pain when they tighten and dig into my skin. Blood seeps from the wound like crimson tears from my eyes. My wings give out and I fall. Pieces of glass puncture my skin like the words that come from your mouth. I look up to the sky and see disappointed eyes looking back at me. My skin cracks and feathers fall and deteriorate. Your words pounding into me like a whip. A cage of pain with fear as the only emotion. Like a saving and comfort point. Survival instinct has passed and giving up has commenced. All the strength leaves, destruction of myself comes, and love dies. I live day by day in a black mist with the chains of power resting on my only way to freedom. The key has been locked up tight in the back of my heart. I reach and push to take it but with every try my heart turns black and floats away as dust. The key might as well be lost before my heart gives out to the dust. I’ll live with my wings chained for eternity as the sickness slowly takes over my heart. No way to cure it and no way to free my broken wings.
