I translated Boruto LN 3 if anyone wants to read it. It has 2 small borusara crumbs lol. Sumire is overemphasized as a classmate and nothing more. Still a good read though. It’s on my other account @saladsandbolts with light novel 4.

Saradastan1

@saladsandbolts omg!! I'm really looking forward for that novel!!! And since it's from you I know the translation will be the best!

saladsandbolts

@Saradastan1 In the works currently. I'm going at a slower pace with this one tho but it'll be a much better quality translation

@saladsandbolts excuse me but can you please translate the Fifth novel? I heard that it didn't get anime adaption, plus it really sounded interesting since it's about their last day in academy!

Sorry I’ve actually been sick for the past 3 months I was writing a story and then it got abandoned, I’m not sure where I’m gonna go with it. It’s been all I can do to keep up with His Past Her Present on Ao3 and do ch translation/analysis. I’ve been working on making a blog as well. I’m hoping the creativity will start flowing again soon! But lately I’ve been crushing YT shorts instead of imagining stories… Gotta fix that habit!!

Apparently, TBV is doing well even in America. Are we getting anime any time soon? Also, why did they stop making it before the end of the series? It wasn’t even finished. It’s weird.

saladsandbolts

Yeah they’re working on part 2 right now, news just released today. I think we’re getting an anime relatively soon, they just made a new figure for claw machines in Japan recently. I also find it odd part 1 didn’t fully finish but there were a few things like the death of SP’s director and management shifts that likely paused production

Help me out here: I’ve seen chapters 22-25 on the app, but I’ve got no idea what happened in chapters 9-21. Have you already read them all?

Root_Of_All_Magic

I got the Shonen Jump one. Thank you so much.

Hmmm that’s weird, if you’re using MANGA plus (it’s spelled with all caps) it should have them all. You can also look up read Boruto manga online free as long as you have add block but that prob won’t be legal. It’ll be official trans tho as long as the font matches. I have files of my translations if you want those but Wattpad took away DMs so I might need ur email or smth to send them…

Hey. I have a question for you since you speak Japanese. I have a character named Kana. The characters of her name are: 佳奈. I retraced the roots or something online. (Not sure how this works). But apparently, it has an alternate meaning of “What”. The word nara supposedly also means “what”. I would show you the website if I could find it again. Did I do this right or what?

saladsandbolts

@Root_Of_All_Magic yes. 100x yes. It’s the reason manga has readings for the words next to the words. And the reason a lot of Japanese learners can’t fully read a light novel out loud sentence by sentence until at least 5-6 years maybe more even if they’ve been able to read manga the whole time… And why most fan translators don’t/can’t translate light novels or avoid them altogether

Root_Of_All_Magic

It’s cool that there are so many variations for a single character. But doesn’t it get super confusing memorizing them all?
Responder

saladsandbolts

@Root_Of_All_Magic yup that’s the site. Each kanji usually has more than one way it can be read so names end up becoming really creative and complicated. I’ve seen MHA before and yes most of their names have to do with their quirks and personalities like bakugo has the kanji for explosion (Baku) and high status (go), and Katsuki is victory (Katsu) with self (ki).

But if you look at the site jisho.org and put in a name or kanji grouping, it’ll tell you what that kanji means, how many readings it has, and words it’s frequently used in if you’re curious

Any advice on how to start/make a story? Like what should I do? (^_^;)

saladsandbolts

Hmm I think it goes a bit different for everyone, it depends on whether you like discovery writing or outlining! If you want to plan your story out to the end, starting by creating character sheets and looking up plot structure is a great way to give a new story some shape! If you don’t want any of that and you just wanna write and see where it leads you, pull up a blank word doc and start with whatever scene is in your imagination! If you’re going the planned route, I recommend either asking chat gpt for a quick outline for plot structure for whatever genre you’re writing (for example, can I have a 7 point plot structure outline for a slow burn romance with action) or going to reedsy’s YouTube channel! There’s a lot of great channels out there but that one is my personal favorite. They have videos on every aspect of story making… If it gets too overwhelming tho, just do your best and trust your gut!

Root_Of_All_Magic

Hey, remember how you told me about an app where I could get the latest published manga chapters for free? What was that called again?

saladsandbolts

@Root_Of_All_Magic ah that’s all it is then. If you want something else it wouldn’t be legal :/ idk if Crunchyroll does manga anymore but they might have some free stuff too, I use line manga or pikoma but I think those are Japanese App Store only

Root_Of_All_Magic

Oh, no. That part is right. For the books still releasing chapters, anyway.
Responder

saladsandbolts

@Root_Of_All_Magic hmmm Shonen jump should be the first 3 and last 3 chapters for free, not sure why it’d be behind a paywall. Manga plus in the US at least has one read of every ch for free and then after that you have to pay. I wonder why it’s trying to make you a member?
