Hi hello!
I received a message concerning about my thriller book—To Those Who Wish Me Death, that it feels flat and the wordings seem to not compel emotions, and further concerning that it might be an AI-generated story.
To clarify, I use AI for grammar/spelling checking, not for it to think a plot for me, to write a whole scene/chapter/book and publish it under my name.
I am not perpetuating the idea of AI usage nor am I against it. Hindi na po ito bago sa akin. Last year, noong bumalik ako sa pagsusulat, I used an AI generated photo to represent my characters. That time, I am not yet familiar with the consequences that comes from using AI to generate/create. At na-call out po ako ng isang artist. She explained to me how detrimental it is not only to our environment, pati na rin sa mga artists na mayroon tayo. I combined it with my own research to answer questions in my mind, and I deleted the posts immediately + never used an AI again to generate.
I’ve been writing stories/poems for almost 6 years now. Hindi ko sisirain ang image na mayroon ako at matagal ko nang pinaghihirapan kapalit ng isang libro na ni-hindi ko alam kung ano ang laman dahil hindi naman ako ang sumulat at nag-isip, just because AI offers convenience in all aspect. Lahat ng gawa ko na naka-publish, it’s my heart speaking.
I will be unpublishing the TTWWMD for now, with a plan on my mind to make it a taglish version. I think another reason that it sounds like an AI generated story is because of my choice of words, which I personally struggle with din kung minsan. Sometimes, I can’t find the write words/sentences to explain what’s in my mind, no wonder why it would look inappropriate sometimes for the readers.
Yun lang, thank you po!
