I have lived an interesting life. After a short stint in the Air Force and at the Air Force Academy, I returned home, re-started college, became a hippie, protested the war in Vietnam, started an organization for poor black and latino youth, and then walked 1,800 miles to raise money for a Mexican orphanage. After the walk, I went into tourism, building my own receptive tourism companies in San Francisco and Thailand. During that time, I became active in the gay rights movement, which caught the attention of a "reactionary" Police Inspector, who spent the next decade looking for a reason to have me arrested.
Even though I committed no crime and was never found guilty of committing a crime in any court, my arrest was orchestrated by US Embassy officials and I spent two years in prisons and jails in Thailand and then San Francisco. (Read The Poison River) When I turned 50, I rode a bicycle through seven North and Central American countries, then trekked the Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayas. In 2001, I moved to Vietnam and then retired here in 2016, returning to the states periodically to visit friends and to go to 'Burning Man'. I still live in Vietnam with my 'adopted' Vietnamese family.
