" the storm ruled the seas and stirred them into wild , foamy waves that crashed against the ship. the other ship that they had ambushed had gone under with its crew. killian hadn't thought much of that ; they had kidnapped mariel after all. those men of no honor had deserved to die.
now he sat in front of her on a chair , her arm resting in the curl of his hook as he tried to tend to the heavily bleeding wound on her elbow. he'd insisted on helping , despite her reluctance and her saying she could do it alone. the pirate poured some more rum on the wound to disinfect it , before grabbing tweezers to pull out a small piece of wood.

As he disinfected, she grabbed the bottle of alcohol and took a long swig of it. “Well, I certainly didn’t end up here by my own volition,” the doctor retorted, arching her brows. “I was more… forced into the situation.” She was doing her best to skirt around the issue of abduction, yet still mention it without ever saying so by name. It’s not like it was a huge deal anyway; she was still alive and well, wasn’t she? In her eyes, that was more important.
