I wasn't planning to make this into a big deal. But one thing I will never accept is being accused of copying someone else's fic.
Every story I write comes from my own imagination. I take copyright seriously, and I would never copy another writer's work. That's why this accusation frustrates me so much.
The truth is, I know exactly which fic they're referring to because I came across it after I had already published mine. I never called the author out because I later found out it was written from a reader's request. Even then, I won't lie, it felt disrespectful. It honestly gave me the feeling of, "Let me copy your homework, I'll just change a few things."
Now, months later, the topic has been brought up again, and it brought back the same emotions I felt the first time I saw that story.
The difference is that my fic was published months before theirs. I know where my ideas came from, and I know I didn't copy anyone. That's why being accused of plagiarism is something I simply won't stay silent about.
