Star Wars fan from the beginning - 1977; but only recently became more of an addict (at age 61). For many years, I've wanted to write creatively, only now have I found the time to do it.
George Lucas' vision motivated me like it did so many others around the world. I still remember going to the theater in my neighborhood on the East Side of Manhattan for all three of the original trilogy. Return of the Jedi remains the only time I have ever stood in line to see a movie.
But as the years wore on, I became weary of waiting for George to make more movies and thus I discovered the world of Star Wars novels that we now call the EU. Some of these were good but others were a bit too far removed from Lucas' ideas for me to really get into. By the mid-1990s, I had put SW on the shelf and was involved with other pursuits. When the prequel trilogy came out, it took a while for me to warm up to it, and then in 2005 I returned to the theater to see Revenge of the Sith. The ending of that one was thrilling but that seemed like it for me. When Clone Wars animated series started, I was not in the least interested, same for Rebels.
But then came Force Awakens. When I heard that it would be 30 years after ROTJ, and that Han, Leia, and Luke would be in it, I just had to see how it would go. That film started to rekindle things and I then started going to youtube and watching various videos with speculations and insights about that film and the coming sequel. It was then that I also revisited the prequels and started to get more interested in the whole SWU, which then led to my purchase of the Clone Wars seasons in a box set. Being able to see all of those episodes was one of the best journeys I've ever been on from an entertainment standpoint. Like so many others, I was touched deeply by the characterization of Ahsoka Tano, whom I had seen mentioned by many youtube commentors, but had no idea who she was until watching the CW series.
