Welcome to my mind. I'm having a crisis because I can't seem to find a clear cut answer as to which is MOST correct, barefoot or barefooted. I'm leaning towards barefooted as an adjective and barefoot as an adverb.
          Adjective: barefooted kids
          Adverb: kids running barefoot

Yes, I think this is MOST correct.

Grammar tip: Shambles is a SINGULAR noun.

Proper usage would be, "My life is a shambles." Or you could say, "My life is in a shambles."

"My life is in shambles" is incorrrect. Shambles is not a synonym for tatters.

Look up the definition of shambles. You'll be surprised!
