Hey everyone,
I'm considering leaving Wattpad for good. Before, I announced a break so I could cope with a lot of personal and professional things I had going in my life, which made being on this website a chore. However, a lot of things have changed since then, and I've realized not being on here has done wonders for my mental health- especially since I'm not worrying about updates, my numbers, having to enter competitions, and all that. Plus, I just logged on today after a couple of months of inactivity, and everything feels like dystopia, a mere shell of what this place used to be, you know? The forums are gone, there are paid stories everywhere, the Wattys are excluding poetry books, all the people I initially befriended on here are either gone or have just forgotten about me :/
It's not their fault, I know, but everything just feels so bleak and lonely.
However, this is the only platform I have for sharing my words and my stories and poetry with the world, so I'll post my work occasionally, when I happen to write something I'm proud of, or probably for the sake of it when I'm feeling nostalgic. But I won't be as active as I used to be before, I probably won't read books or make posts or respond to any messages- if you do want to keep in touch, though, please dm me for my email :)
So yeah. I guess this is goodbye from my side. Maybe, when I'm feeling up to it, I'll come back again and interact with everyone again, and write a book, and talk regularly, but I don't think I'm capable of doing that right now.
Farewell, good friends and acquaintances, I must take my leave now. My time with you has elapsed, but I truly hope you journey far and journey well without me. I'll never forget this glorious time with all you wonderful people, and hope you can do the same for me.

@ShyNightshade i considered leaving a bit ago, i've always generally been pretty uninvolved here, i don't really do much social media stuff overall, but here i talk with only a handful of people and pop in to post occasional work and then largely ignore it otherwise. your situation is different as your online presence is/was much bigger than mine. but i still do appreciate the outlet it gives me and it motivates me to write at least one thing every three or four weeks. if you leave, wish you the best, if not i hope you find a workable balance

Hey! We're at 10K!
I remember at this same time last year I had hardly 100 reads haha. Looking back now, I'm really proud of my growth as a poet and our growth as a community! I really miss interacting with everyone in the comments about complex issues in today's world and sharing our own personal tragedies and generally just bonding... But a lot of people I befriended back then have all but disappeared from my life. It's alright, though, because as we all grow as people, we tend to grow apart from our pasts and blossom into separate futures. I really hope that Phosphenes continues to grow and build relationships and bring insight as well as joy into the lives of all who read it.
If anyone wants me to do anything special for this milestone, please please please let me know!
