Can I find ONE goddamn Rapper or Urban book where the Main character doesn’t have a “mental illness” or have a so called tragic background? (Oh nO my paRents aBuSed me aNd mAke mE sEll mY bOdY bUt thIs maN is JuSt gOinG to MagicAlLy fIx it)
Like don’t get me wrong some of these books portray mental illnesses really well but majority of the time it’s exaggerated and it feels very disrespectful to me– a person with a personality disorder.
If you’re going to write a book do research or ask someone with an illness about their experiences. Don’t go off horrible stereotypes that demonize us. Don't be stupid. Research.
