I learned to stay quiet because my words were often turned into weapons against me.
My accent? Mocked.
My thoughts? Ignored.
My dreams? Laughed at.

Once, I tried to fit in. I changed the way I spoke. I tried to hide the real me. But I lost myself in the process.
They still didn't accept me. Because no matter how much I tried, I was never "enough" for them.

Not fair-skinned enough.

Not rich enough.

Not modern enough.

Not like them.


But now... I'm done trying to fit their mold.
