Here are some of my main ones:
1. Have a good balance of action and romance. Like if write a chapter that is more calm and romance focused, than usually I try to make sure something action based happens 1-2 chapters later.
2. Make every chapter have a goal in mind. Before you write each chapter, it’s good to think how it’s going to progress your story. Does it reveal something? Does it add to character development?
3. Don’t be afraid to give your characters flaws. Even if they’re a great person, nobody is perfect and it adds realism.
4. Have fun with it :) You will learn your own strategies and develop some of your own methods along the way
