Basically a translator and editor, Sharma contributes regular write-ups to major national dailies and South Asian journals regarding arts, literature and culture. He writes primarily in English but occasionally jots down poetry in his mother tongue Nepali. He has more than a dozen of books translated from Nepali to English, some of which are 'Guerrilla Girl', 'Fearless Warriors', 'Children Stories of Nepal', 'In the Battle of Kirtipur', 'Gurkha War Poems', 'Odes from the Himalayas', 'The Forlorn Sun', 'Colors of Epoch', and more. He is also the publisher and editor of SATHI, an English literary magazine that promotes Nepali literature through translations. A computer engineer by profession, he switches back and forth between the likes of technology and literature.
