After reading Snow White is a Gangster for the first time, it left an impression on me of how cool it would be to be in a Mafia organization. To be fearless and skillful like Henrietta. To handle deadly weapons and fight bad guys—not because I'm a hero, but because it's my duty.
Now, after reading it for the second time, I finally understand the pain, darkness, and heartbreak that come with living as a reaper. For Henrietta to finally decide to turn her back on the Freniere family, even on Sebastian, who finally confessed his love for her and, for a moment, returned to being Ian—the man she had always loved—was powerful.
The ending is so satisfying. I wished nothing but happiness for them. For the second time, Sielastreim made me realize how amazing she is to write such a rollercoaster of a story and still manage to give readers a calming epilogue.
The story is worth every read it has received over the years.
Even though I no longer aspire to be a reaper and take down all the bad guys, I still aspire to be like Henrietta—strong enough to leave everything behind and start a new life because she knows she needs it. I aspire to be like Henrietta because she knows when to finally rest after all her battles. I aspire to be like Henrietta because, even with a heavy heart, she steps forward into a new beginning. And lastly, I aspire to be like Henrietta, who made the hot-headed Sebastian Freniere, who only knew how to demand, wait for her because she knows she is worth the wait.
