So a few days ago I went to a doctor thst specializes in Tourettes and movement disorders. And turns out my tics are actually caused by FND or more specifically Functional Movement Disorder. Which basically means my brain and body don't properly send or receive signals which causes abnormal movements. For me thats functional tics.
HAPPY TOURETTE'S SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH!!!!!
In honour of Tourette's Syndrome Awareness Month {May 15-June 15}. Here's some facts about Tourette's!
1. Tourette's was first diagnosed by Gilles de la Tourette's in 1885
2. Despite it being known by the media as "The swearing disease" only about 10-20% of people with tic disorders have Coprolalia (involuntarily saying obscene things).
3. Tourette's isn't the only tic disorder. The others are Chronic motor/vocal tic disorder and provisional tic disorder.
I'm currently in English (last period) and I've been suppressing my tics all day (except for lunch) so my tics are probs gonna be really bad on the the bus and at home
