Well it only took three years but it’s finally done, the first book that inspired an enormous series that I’ve been plotting out. I started The Wyvern’s Gift in 2022 for Wattpad’s Open Novella Contest and promptly dropped out after round 2 when I realized I had overcommitted myself with two novellas (oh Skye, sweet summer child). I made it to chapter 6 and then apparently didn’t touch it again for a year.
          Since then I’ve spent time building that world like you wouldn’t believe. The only mention of kingdoms in TWG was Granatal and their northern neighbor and enemy Cathia. Now there’s an entire world. The only mention of religion was a spring festival and now there’s an entire pantheon with deities that actively meddle in the world.
          
          I went from a cast of six that wasn’t expected to expand to a cast of (checks google sheets) 25 ish, not all main but all important threads in the plot.
          
          I am so excited to move on to the rest of the books without feeling the guilt of leaving the first one unfinished. I might even be excited to eventually edit this one so it fits the overall plot with some foreshadowing.

Hi! Excited to be paired up with you this week. I love critiques that help me improve, so feel free to let the red ink flow :) I do have one overarching question on whether my ONC book should start with the first chapter or the second chapter. Football is not a central part of the story so I wonder if it sends the wrong impression. It is however the catalyst for Bucky to join a club. Be interested in which chapter you think is stronger.
