Hi! I write YA science fiction and fantasy, but I read just about everything... except horror--my imagination is far too overactive and I just don't sleep well with the light on. My background is in the natural sciences and I love to be outdoors, but I also enjoy working with children, the elderly and the underprivileged because they enjoy being alive without focusing too much on the business of living; plus, they tell the most amazing stories. I'm married to a brilliant, compassionate veterinarian and have an amazing fifteen-year-old son. We live beside the Sydney River in a crooked old farmhouse with many furry family members on Cape Breton Island, where I spend my days imagining I'm Ratty from The Wind in the Willows.
