Finally managed to publish my response to @anthonyeffect 's three words! I've decided to add all of the short stories I write to a book called 'Three Little Words'. Each chapter will be dedicated to the person who suggested them and will have the three words as the chapter title.

I hope you all enjoy and please feel free to send me your three little words!

What a great idea! I’ll check it out ♥️

In an attempt to get back writing, send me three random words and I’ll try to write a short story. Let’s go!

Here's a little something that I picked up from James Patterson's Master class, it has worked wonders for me. (I also have to keep momentum.)
To combat writer's block, forget the pros completely and focus on templating the scene. Detail the events and the emotions that you want to convey in the most drab and basic language you can. For me, a 4 to 600-word template will turn into 3 to 4000 words when I go back and begin filling in between the sections. I hope it works for you too, there's something about writing boring sentences on purpose that rekindles creativity.

That’s a great approach! It reminds me of something an old lecturer taught me when it came to revision: turn your notes into bullet points, as concise as possible. I tried to use the reverse of that approach when writing my plot for my book - fleshing the meat out on the bones of the bullet points. This seems very similar!
Thanks so much for your help! Hopefully I’ll have the get up and go to get to work on this soon!

Maybe not writing for a couple of weeks wasn’t a great idea. I’ve now got the worst writers block! What are your recommendations for getting out of it?

PennyZee

@slekwati A big plus, is that your story is memorable. You're touching on a time period that had a deep effect world wide. I'm from the generation of children born to the surviving men and women who fought in that world war.
Plus-plus, you've touched on prejudices that existed before the war and continue today. So, take your time dear lady.
You've had a lot on your plate, not to mention your studies! I remember those days! Take care!

@PennyZee that is an excellent point. I think overthinking is really clogging up the system! Taking some time to step back might be a good idea.

Over the next couple of weeks I’m doing an intensive course, moving and having to prepare for a Math’s resit! It’s going to be a crazy couple of weeks, so I doubt I’ll be posting for a little while! Sorry, everyone!

For the most part, I really enjoy my Wattpad experience, however, why do so many ‘users’ (scammers? Bots? Maybe actual people, but honestly that would be surprising?) use the site to slide into DMs and say ‘hello cutie’ etc.?

Like... I’m here to write and read. If you’re gonna chat about a book or something Wattpad related, let’s go! Otherwise, don’t bother.

Is anyone else suffering from an influx of those type of messages?

I can’t believe that I’ve been so inactive over the last week and a bit, but I’ve managed to reach over 100 followers and I’m closing in on 200 reads for Victory Dance!

Thank you so much for your support and for taking the time to read my little story!
