I was once known as flowerpsycho; a name worn by a younger self who had not yet learned the economy of silence. She was loud where others preferred quiet, opinionated where agreement was expected, and altogether too unwilling to make herself palatable for the comfort of those who mistook a woman's conviction for excess.

Fifteen years have since passed between the beginning of that name and this one. Now, as I stand somewhere at the threshold of my thirties, I arrive as @slowmidnightpages on Threads, not wholly transformed, nor eager to disown the woman I was, but altered, as all living things are, by the long and unceremonious work of time.

Time, I have learned, is less an instrument of reinvention than an accumulation of selves. We do not arrive at adulthood having shed the people we once were; we merely acquire the distance to understand them differently. What was once noise becomes discernment, certainty gives way to the humility of experience, and the sharper edges of youth are gradually worn smooth by the quiet insistence of living.

And so I begin here.

For the very first time, I am gathering my writing in one place not merely to preserve it, but to ask something more of it. These stories have spent years arriving in fragments: in margins and midnight hours, in unfinished sentences, in the small disturbances of thought that refuse to leave until given a page. I cannot say where any of this will lead. Perhaps these words will remain here, belonging only to the quiet anonymity of the internet or perhaps one day, through some improbable mercy afforded to those foolish enough to keep writing, one of these stories will exceed the confines of this screen and take the form of a novel bound and printed, its spine facing outward, waiting at eye level on a bookshelf somewhere in Malaysia.

Until then, I will write here. I do not know where these pages will take me; after fifteen years of carrying stories within me, I have simply kept them waiting long enough.
