@MrCreosote Reading and interpreting manuscripts was a part of my masters. It's fun because it's kind of like a puzzle with the steadily less readily legible writing systems, all the abbreviations and the fact that medieval Latin is a bit different from classical. Also a lot of these aren't translated, whereas the Roman poets have a bunch of different translations so you can pick and choose your quality. If you ever want to try some medieval Latin sources that are in print (so you don't have to bother with the calligraphy or abbreviations) ask me. I'll try to help you find some.

@MrCreosote That's awesome and better than I can do. I just consult a couple books and a very basic knowledge of endings. But I can also read diplomatic formula in documents practically in my sleep, so there's that. It seriously truncates the list of words you have to look up, but it doesn't help with literature.

@MrCreosote I actually skipped Wheelocks and got thrown right into practical application translating medieval manuscripts during my masters. But I do own it, as well as an excellent dictionary. And a cheat sheet of medieval abbreviations. And a book of expanded abbreviations.

@MrCreosote I see you around in the Fantasy club all the time, and your work always sounds so interesting.  I also have a healthy appreciation for Latin, as medievalists do.  I decided it was definitely time to click that "+Follow" button.  :D

Ooo!  I just noticed that today two of my stories are ranked!  Thank you, to all the people who have been reading The Green Spectre and Advice from the Doghouse.  They may not be ranked particularly high, but it really is nice to see those numbers because (I hope) it means people are enjoying them.  :)

Thanks for the recommendation, It was really cute :)My favorite manga featuring Baku is Nightmare Inspector, and Baku (BIKKE) is pretty good too.
