"Whoop-" Vega tripped out of a hole in thin air and landed face-first on the pavement, narrowly missing breaking her nose. Well, that was lucky of her. If she had, it would have been the second time that month. As landings went, that had been rather lackluster, she thought as she sat up and dusted herself, looking around. Probably a 2 out of five stars, but hey, she had been in a time crunch. All things considered, Vega had done rather well with what she had been given.

"Thanks, I'm glad too," Vega joked, dusting herself off in a theatrical way and giving Arden a smile that crinkled the corners of her eyes. "I'm Vega, by the way. Vega Noir. Thanks for the save. Oh, I'm very trustworthy." Not that that made her sound very trustworthy, but hey, it was what it was.

@vega_noir Arden smiled. “Well I’m glad your okay.” He replied with a chuckle. “I’m going to trust you on that ma’am.” His smile was warm and gentle, it fit well on him. He placed his hands in the pockets of his jeans. “Well, I sure do hope you’re more graceful than what you demonstrated.”

"Oh, I'm doing peachy," Vega replied cheerfully, taking his hand with a grateful smile and getting to her feet. "Thanks a bunch. It happens more often than you'd think- oh, that makes me sound clumsy. I don't usually fall, I swear!" she laughed, a bright, clear sound. "Or maybe I do. How about... I'm relatively graceful." When you ran as much as Vega did, you had to be.

The forest was dark and silent. It wasn't even night yet, technically- the sun was still up- but the thick, dense canopy of the forest choked out the sunlight, resulting in a green, pine-scented darkness. It was cool under the canopy, with the sound of a slight breeze ruffling through the trees as well as the sounds of various /things/ moving through the forest.
Anyone living near the forest could have told you one thing, through- don't go in after dark, or even close to dark. People who walked through the forest at night returned changed... or were never seen again. Myths and folklore about it abounded, saying that it was haunted, there were things in the forest that had no right to exist, that the trees had eyes that watched newcomers. They were all correct in one way or another. When the voice came, it was filled with the rustling of leaves and the creaking of branches, and it came from everywhere and nowhere at once.

The cold didn’t bother Vega, or at least it seemed not to bother him. He barked out a sharp, short laugh, shaking his head. “I don’t see how you could, but thank you for the offer.” Vega’s voice softened, and he gave Arden a slight smile that seemed at home on his face. Vega had deep smile lines around his eyes and mouth, and he wore them well. “But it’s sweet of you to offer.”

@vega_noir He nodded, understanding what he meant, but only slightly. “You don’t know how you got here?” He walked closer to Vega, the cold getting stronger with every step. “I can help you, if you let me.” He proposed, stopping about two yards from where Vega was standing.

Vega let out a long, slow breath, a slight mist hanging in the air as he did. It was getting colder as it got darker, especially with whatever Arden was doing. “Lost isn’t the right word,” he replied, looking at Arden with eyes that were shot through with streaks of deep, clear green. Closer to Vega, the scent of pine needles and dried leaves hung in the air, clinging to him. “To be lost I’d have to have somewhere I need to be. I... don’t remember who I was.”
