Half of the threads in the Fantasy forum are about clichés, and the hating of them.
There's a quiet arrogance to the people who make these threads. As readers, they're entitled to read only the best and most original work-- God forbid Sturgeon's Law. Writers are regarded as lazy when they fall back to using clichés, regardless of their level of skill and experience. "If I can write something that isn't pure Tolkien fantasy-schlock, why can't you?"
"If I'm so good at writing, why aren't you?"
Please, just stop doing this.
(I mean, I know you won't, but still.)
