I just started Dawn of A Fallen Songbird, and what caught me most is how you place tenderness right next to danger. Camellia’s family scenes feel warm and safe, but because the Reaping is so close, every normal detail suddenly feels heavier. I love when a story makes comfort feel temporary, like the characters are holding onto it before everything changes. In my own YA romance, Lou and JJ have a chapter built around one evening at a childhood place before he has to leave the next morning. It’s softer than dystopian tension, of course, but emotionally it has that same feeling of “this moment is safe, but it can’t last.” With Camellia and Lucas, do you see their connection growing from that kind of fragile comfort, or more from danger forcing them to understand each other before they’re ready?

@songbirdvale01 Omg I love that answer, thank you!! I really like the idea of comfort and danger working together, especially with both of them being independent but slowly realizing they need someone. That makes me even more excited to keep reading Cam and Lucas ❤

@Author_without OOOhhhhh great question!!! I definitely could see Cam and Lucas' dynamic come from a bit of both! These characters definitely have moments of their fragile pasts that they hold so close, but at the same time, the danger is definitely forcing them out of their comfort zone, which causes a need to rely on someone. They are both very independent, but in a situation like they are in, they begin to realize they can't face this danger on their own. But when they think they know each other, the other installments of the series I have planned out for them, they both get to know each other on a much DEEPER level! I hope this all made sense haha!
