* he wasn't wrong there. being a vampire didn't really change anyone. it may have amplified other traits that were already present at the time, but the core nature of that person didn't really alter * I'm not quite the monster you seem to think I am. Maybe I've made a few questionable choices throughout the years but those choices don't automatically make someone a bad person. You yourself aren't a saint either.

I honestly don't know what to think when it comes to you anymore * she pointed out, though the next part of his sentence had her holding her breath slightly, not quite sure whether to believe him or not. that he would let her see Lana, after everything, was probably too much to hope for. especially a visitation where he wasn't hovering the entire time * You know as well as I do that I would never go anything to hurt her. Whatever you feel about me, even you could admit that I have never done any wrong to Lana.

@soughtbIood                surprise flickered in his gaze—-a brief lapse          —-before rurik gave a subtle nod, shifting slightly to face the other fully. “must i?” he asked, lifting a hand to rub the back of his neck, an awkward look settling on his face. it was strange for him, this unease, especially when he was so used to being composed. “it must be easy for you,” he muttered       under his breath, “to be at ease and full of humor.”
