          so a couple. an arranged marriage of like 14 years. got together super young for very unromantic reasons (she needed an out from her terrible parents, he got bullied into it by his very asian mum) and it just... worked. all practical, a stable partnership, a life built on mutual care, zero romance. hes endlessly dutiful and spent 14 years saying yes to everything she ever asked. shes robotic, composed, emotionally repressed as hell, but takes care of him in a thousand tiny ways bcs nobody else bothers. a giant circus family setting-- chaotic house, lunatic siblings, overbearing parents, feral kids-- story's set during the wedding prep for the youngest brother who's a disaster and an idiot in love. so now its stress, noise, expectations, all this talk about love and what marriage is supposed to look like... and it starts messing with them. like. they've been married for 14 years, suddenly its a slow burn, they examine it, its like... oh.... OH. 
          
          a highlight scene I wrote... once she corners him, says, this isnt romantic, we agreed on it, u dont owe me any loyalty so why haven't you ever... you know... had anyone else? any affairs? and he very simply answers, "before you, there was no time. and after you, there was no need." LIKE ??????? guys im SICK.
