hey! i just wanted to jump on here and say that although i am a fan of harry potter, i absolutely hate jkr and had already stopped supporting her a while back!
i believe it is important to hold people that you once held in high esteem accountable for their actions, and jkr should not be omitted from that. she has proven on multiple accounts that she is racist, transphobic, and homophobic and i cannot and will not support someone who continuously harms marginalized communities.
that being said, over the years, harry potter has become so much more than her, and the community it has created is very difficult to let go of. even though i have a strong dislike for her, these books have been with me forever and have (and continue to) help me through extremely difficult times in my life. Whether it’s reading the books, reading fics, or writing my own fics, it’s something that i consume literally every day, and something that brings me joy every day.
separating art from the artist is important, and i believe that as long as we recognize the issues not only with the artist themselves, but the flaws within the art as well, we can still appreciate the art for what it is.
i think it’s important as a fanfic author to not that i will always try my best to make my work as diverse as possible.
(also relish in the fact that sirius black, a character of her own creation, would absolutely despise this woman, thank you very much)
