Stephen Gane was born in Bath, Somerset, in 1948. He left school with no qualifications. He then found employment as an apprentice chef. Joined P&O and worked on cruise liners for a while. Then he moved to London where he ended his cooking career as head chef of a London Club. His second career was antiques which he did until he retired. Suffering from dyslexia he has had problems with reading and spelling so writing a novel never entered his head. Christmas 2013 he had a dream and had to write the story. Seven weeks and three days later “A Questionable Hero” was finished.
