@firstIights  ,               "—oh, fuck! i am so so sorry, i didn't mean to /almost/ blind you." annie had spoken in a frantic tone, reaching for his arm to steady him. she needed to take better control of her powers before she ACTUALLY blinds somebody. 
            
            "it'll be okay in a minute or two. shit, i didn't mean to do that. sometimes, my powers get a little out of hand. are you okay?" the blonde asked, standing near him to take a better look, and in case he fell and injured himself.

            RUBBING AT HIS EYES, blinking once, twice. the flash of light she had just thrown nearby had already burnt its abstract shape into BOND’s retinas.

            the longer one talks to JOHNNY CAGE, the more apparent it is that his head’s several sizes too big for his body. talking about HOMELANDER so  flippantly⸻it’s a surprise not a single passerby shot the actor a dirty glance.

@uncagedfury           a pause is given, annie's gaze settling on him, mouth opening to speak. "–a whole lot of fake smiles and courage. don't let Homelander hear you say that. he'll go crazy." she replied, laughing faintly. "but thanks, glad to know I made a good impression."

@AmericanPatriot-   *         "but we aren't — i  come to realise that already, homelander.  and here i thought i was ACTUALLY doing good in the world, but that was all a /lie/. it was for PR, for vought." annie explains,  running her hands over her face in distraught and frustration, her gaze moving towards the american supe. 
            
            noticing how he moved a little closer into warmth and to be felt, she knew john craved that when it came to life in the spotlight.  
            
            "ive already been disappointed. maybe becoming a superhero was all a lie? it wasn't worth it — THIS DREAM ...  can't believe i fell for this bullshit." the blonde supe added, wiping a faint tear from her eye to prevent it from falling.

            Homelander was quiet for a beat after she finished. Not the performative kind of silence—no cameras, no audience to hold it for. Just… stillness. Then he exhaled, something almost amused under it.
            
            “You weren’t wrong” the words came easily, but his tone didn’t match them. Too flat. Too measured. He stepped closer, not enough to touch—just enough to be /felt/. Presence pressing in where the open air should’ve been.
            
            “You just didn’t understand the assignment” a tilt of his head, studying her profile instead of the city “you thought this was about saving people.” A faint huff of a laugh. “It’s not” his gaze shifted downward, following hers to the lights flickering far below—tiny, insignificant.
            
            “It’s about being what they need to /believe/ is saving them” a pause, then softer—dangerously so “and you’re good at that, Annie. Better than you think” his eyes slid back to her, something sharper settling in.
            
            “But the second you start confusing that with reality…” his jaw tightened just slightly “…that’s when you get disappointed.”

@AmericanPatriot-     *               "what's not easy to get,  homelander?" relishing in the silence a little longer, annie then spoke up once more. "—i /actually/ thought by being one of them would make a difference. to change the world, but i guess i was wrong." starlight added, looking down to the bustling city below them.
