I watched Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse last night and omg it was literally one of the best films I've ever seen. And I don't say that very often so no, I'm not exaggerating. So if you wanna know how good it is, read the following:
I'm seriously passionate about how much I love this movie. It was paced perfectly and I'm happy it ended on a cliffhanger, because there's so much attention to even small details and there's so much consistent progression in various areas.
The soundtrack was awesome obviously, though there wasn't like a specific almost theme song like in "Into the Spider-Verse" which was Sunflower. Even still, it was awesome.
The relationship dynamics between all the characters are perfect as well. I'm not like some super hardcore, obsessed shipper right now, but I do love Gwen and Miles and I like the progression we've seen. They're very cute together.
Animation was spot on as expected, and I admire the originality so much because we've never seen anything like this. The first movie of this trilogy gave us a solid introduction to the more comic-like animation, and this movie took that same animation style and made it even better. They expanded on it so much and we got an even more expressive, colourful, and genuinely beautiful movie.
I really love all the fourth-wall-breaking references and how the concept of the spider-verse was elaborated on. It's so interesting to see how self-aware characters can be in their own story, even though it's not supposed to be really comedic compared to when a typical cartoon or sitcom breaks the fourth wall. It was incredible to see a new take on that, and how it was so essential to the plot of the story.
Then there are more specific things I liked from the movie but I won't get into that very much because I don't want to spoil it. I will say though, we got to see the story from Gwen's perspective a, and that was so cool.
Anyway, I'm at the character limit now, so I'm done. Please go watch this movie!!
