Ahmaud Arbery, Michael Brown, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor.
#BlackLivesMatter is going around right now because these are examples of how screwed up the system is.
But can I just say something.
If Gregory McMichael had seen a 25 year old white man out for his daily jog on February 23, 2020 would he have shot him?
No.
If Darren Wilson had seen a 18 year old white man walking in the street on August 9, 2014 do you think that that white man would've been shot six times?
No.
If Derek Chauvin had a white man in custody on May 25, 2020 do you think that he would've held him face-down for 8 minutes and 46 seconds whist the man in custody tried to tell officers that he couldn't breath?
No.
Do you think that Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove would've opened fire on May 13, 2020 if they knew who they were shooting at?
No.
Ahmaud Arbery: a jogger
Michael Brown: a young man that was in the wrong place at the wrong time
George Floyd: a man that had a painfully slow death for no damn reason
Breonna Taylor: a front-line worker who was wrongfully shot 8 times
What do all of these people have in common?
They were murdered for the color of their skin.
the color of ones skin
the people we choose to love
who we choose to believe in
we all need to just stop and start to realize that no matter what we're all only human.
