I'm a portrait painter. Sometimes I make music.
Writing fiction was never something I thought about doing, although I've written lyrics and made songs.
In the past year or so I've been seeing so much inspiring content on social media, so much encouragement from writers. Years ago this was the thing that pushed me to start painting.
Painting was something I though would add meaning and value to my life, and though in a lot of ways it did, it created a new challenge. Now I had to find meaning and value in my paintings, understand and describe them. That's how I became interested in writing.
I'm learning to just go for it, and make peace with the possibility (or, more pessimistically, inevitabilitly) of failure. Failures in lower stake endeavours like art will hopefully help me deal with bigger failures.
I'm trying to use art for personal enjoyment and growth, as a tool to free and empower me. Or at least these are the words I'm coming up with right now, trying to rationalize what I'm doing.
Either way, hi!
